JEDI Outdoors Advanced Instructor Training with Deb Armstrong

JEDI Outdoors’ Principal, Humaira Falkenberg, creates a transformative initiative to increase inclusion and leadership of advanced Black, Indigenous, Women of Color (BIWOC) ski instructors in snowsports. The absence of advanced Level 2 or Level 3 Black, Indigenous, Women of Color in PSIA or at local ski areas is evident. This initiative aims to bridge that gap by providing PSIA Certified Level 1 or Level 2 BIWOC women opportunity to train with Olympic Gold Medalist, Deb Armstrong at Taos Ski Valley.

The Scholarship includes:

  • 4 full days of coaching from Deb Armstrong

  • 1 full day mock exam with Burt Skall, Snowsports Director, Taos Ski Valley

  • Lift tickets for all 5 days

  • Discounted shared ski in/ski out lodging at the luxurious Blake Hotel at Taos Ski Valley

Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico

Pre-requisites

  • Current PSIA Level I or Level II certified ski instructor, Teaching alpine skiing in 2024/2025

  • Must identify as Black, Brown, Indigenous, Woman of Color including Trans-woman of color or gender queer

  • Live in the USA

  • 18 years or older

  • Participant to provide their own ski equipment

  • Test negative for Covid-19 prior to arrival

  • Wear a helmet for all 5 days of the scholarship.
